Newbie needs some help with Dendrobium
Default Newbie needs some help with Dendrobium

HI
Just bought 3 beautiful flowering Dendrobium. I want to pot them together in one pot. When is the best time to do this, what is the best potting mix to use for these and do I need special pots with cut outs in them?
I just lost a Phal that I bought at home depot. Flowers fell off and then leaves fell off,to much water I suspect. I donlt want to make that mistake again,
Thanks
Rob

Welcome to the Orchid Board!

The first thing you need to do is make sure that all 3 Dends are the same type. Different types need different care at different times. That could lead to trouble if one needs to be drier than the others. You can repot them at any time, though I would wait until they have finished flowering. It is often advised to wait until new growth begins. You can use any pot that has good drainage. I use a bark mixture that also contains some peat, charcoal, and perlite. I have bought Dends already potted this way, potted in just bark and some with some lava rock mixed. If all 3 are of the same type, then my only concern would be that if something went wrong you may lose 3 plants instead of one.
