I have a Doritaenopsis Fusheng's Purple Gem that I purchased last spring. It bloomed until September. Approximately one week ago the spike/stem turned red; the leaves remain healthy. I last watered it about 7 days ago. Can anyone tell me what might be wrong and I should do to care for the plant? Thanks so much.
First, Welcome to the board. Why not make a posting in the Introductions section and get your proper welcomes?
I wouldn't worry about it. My Phals often have spikes that turn reddish (like a maroon color). Just keep moderate light (500-1000 foot candles) on it and watch the water - don't over water, but don't let it dry out either, and watch the spike. It'll probably be OK. Just a guess without pictures.
