Mir-Acid, with a 30-10-10 chemistry is, in my opinion, a great way to get soft, bright green foliage and never see flowers. (Excessive nitrogen has been shown to retard blooming, or stop it altogether.)
Back in the old days, when bark-based media prevailed, it was noted that plants eventually ended up being nitrogen-deficient. What they didn't know was that it was the microorganisms consuming the decomposing organic media that were taking the nitrogen, and that they should repot the plants far morte often, as we tend to do now.
No matter what you use, I personally recommend no more that 125 ppm N - divide 10 by the %N on the label to get the teaspoon per gallon to use for that level.
