As far as expensive goes, this is pretty good:

Orchid Web: Phrag. besseae 'Robs Choice' AM/AOS 4N

Certain awarded Paph and Phrags tend to go for a lot because those species are impossible to clone and take forever to reach flowering size.

Can you imagine buying one of these and then having it die on you ?

The most I ever spent was about $100-and that was over 10 years ago-on a Phal. pantherina. At the time they were impossible to find. I strongly suspect the plant was jungle collected, but was purchased from a legitimate grower. The good thing is that the plant is still alive, doing well, and working on putting out a new spike right now.

The most I have spent was $48 on a Phrag. Jason Fisher seedling. I thankfully have not killed it yet and it has gotten pretty big. I'm hoping for a bloom soon. I've considered spending up to $75, but just can't seem to justify it to myself.

I'd be interested on hearing as well what the most amount of money you've spent on an orchid buying trip at one time.....maybe I'm looking for a way to make myself feel better about my impulsiveness!!
