Hello Stefan,

I generally repot all orchids when they are starting to put out new root growth.

Commercially orchids are re-potted every day of the year.

There are not enough hours in the day to try to re-pot only when roots are growing. But for a hobbyist with only a few plants waiting until roots are growing is a 'safer' time to re-pot.

You will only really see new roots on Cattleya. Most others you will not be able to see new roots in the pots. Usually you will see new growth on the plant or you can estimate that most plants start new growth a few weeks after flowering.

So you can re-pot anytime, but when the plant is actively growing will be easier for you.
