cattleya growth of some sort?
Default cattleya growth of some sort?

Hey i noticed recently that i have a growth on one of my orchids. I was just wondering if anyone knew exactly what it was. None of my catts have ever bloomed so i was hoping maybe it was a sheath or something developing. I bought these plants on ebay about 2 or 3 years ago and i think they are just now about blooming size.

A little hard to distinguish from the pictures but picture 2 shows a new growth which will eventually develop into a leaf and pseudobulb..

yeah, all the pictures are of the same plant. i was trying to get a good picture. I had just never seen a pseudobulb form from inside another pseudobulb. normally mine develop beside an already established pseudobulb. I was hoping that the growth had something to do with the plant blooming. It seems like i have been waiting forever for blooms from this plant.

It looks a little odd to me, probably a new growth. I'd probably tear away the sheath and see exactly what it is.
I notice that your leaves are pretty dark green, it could be that they need more light in order to bloom!
I usually go the other extreme and give mine too much light...they bloom like crazy, but the plants look pretty bad in the process...
