beads of sap on my phals?
I have 4 phals in my apartment and each of them has what looks like beads of sap on the spike near the blooms. It is a little bit sticky to the touch.
I took some photos.
What is this and is it anything to be concerned about? It wasn't there when I bought each of these plants.
Thanks in advance!

Like you said, it's sap. No concern.

Oh good. Wasn't sure since the sap wasn't there when I got them. Still a newbie to orchids.
Thanks!

Hi, as far as I know sap means they are happy! I have read people refering to it as "Happy Sap"!

I too considder this as Happy Sap.
If you didn't use pesticides/fungicides on your plant, you should tast it. It tastes really sweet.
On a German board every time they address those beads to stressed plants. Does that makes sense to one of you?
Find this very confusing and can't understand why this would be a sign of stress. Anyone?

It doesn't make much sense at all!
Sap is purely from the overproduction of sugars. Plants just leach it out from their pores when they've got plenty and can't use it.
Stress brings out an entirely different set of physical responses, and we all know what they are.

Beads of sap can be a sign of pests but never seen that myself (luckily).
Thanks King for your answer... doesn't make sense to me too...
