I live in Florida & have my orchids growing outside, I have phals, catts, several various catt hybrids, oncidiums and an encyclia. I leave them out with temps reaching lower 40's, the cool really stimulates the phals. If they are left outside they build up a tolerance to temperature swings. One qualification, the orchids are under a shefflera tree with walls of the house on the north & west for protection. Last year was a very prolonged winter here, tempwise, I inquired about temps then & several members responded about leaving out their collection with no negative responses.
