I always water in the morning so that the water in the crown can dry by night time, and I do check in the afternoon/evening and dry with paper towel if needed.
Soaking more than one at a time can cause problems with deseases or pests being transfered between plants. I've done it with no problems, but I can't advise it.
so, a full day of being wet isn't a problem? i try to avoid watering foliage, etc. but didn't realize the plants can handle hours of being wet..thank you
The other thing is, when they're mounted, they grow out to the side as they do in nature. That way the water can drain from the crown and isn't likely to sit there long enough to cause any problems.
I wouldn't leave them for a whole day on a regular basis, but I've left them 24 hours on ocasion by acident with no ill effect.
I regularly leave them a couple of hours or so when watering with no problem, but I let them drain well afterwards and I also let them dry between waterings.
thank you! that's good to know--i think i'm nit-picking about where to place phals because of my sloppiness in watering the catts and where to put the vandas--maybe i should talk about this on another thread..
