Default BLC. Hawaii Stars

This is one of the bagged orchid rescues I picked up. It's not getting worse but doesn't seem to be getting any better either. Since it is advertised as "fast growing" on the lable I was really hoping for some signs of improvement by now.

Any tips?

How long has it been since you purchased it?

Do you have any pics?

unfortunately I don't the children broke my camera and I can't seem to put aside money to get a new one since I keep purchasing orchids, finches and spiders.

It has been at least two weeks since purchase. I wasn't expecting to see flowering or anything yet but was at least hoping it would look better than it did.

Okay...

Right off the bat, the Cattleya's most likely not getting enough light.

Blc's (Brassolaeliocattleyas), are intergeneric hybrids of some of the more light intensive genera of orchids available in the hobby. Namely: Brassavola, Laelia, Cattleya, and possibly Rhyncholaelia (denpending on what the cross is).

The lighting should be bright indirect light.

You're also expecting it to grow way too fast. Cattleyas are fast growing relative to a Phalaenopsis. However, they're not nearly as fast growing as many terrestrial orchids or crabgrass are.

Until I know the temperature and humidity, I can't divulge any more information and recommend a course of action.

They are intermediate to warm growing (60 F to 90 F).
