I picked up this orchid today and I have a few questions . One leaf is damaged should I remove it and if so how. There are two orchids in the pot should I wait till they get acclimated in their new setting, or re-pot now . Last,Does anyone know the proper name. Thank You Tony
Looks like a phalaenopsis or doritaenopsis hybrid.
The leaf appears to have mechanical damage - unsightly but not fatal.
Many big box stores are 'packaging' two or more plants in the same pot. Do you know if the two plants are the same hybrid? It wouldn't hurt to keep them in the same pot. I will always quarantine new plants for a week or so before putting them into the greenhouse. In general, we repot new plants as they're added to the collection - there are exceptions of course.
There are literally ten of thousands of registered (and unregistered) hybrids so it's impossible to confirm a name from a photo. Unless there was a tag in the plant, (with traceable information), I'm afraid you'll have to call your plant Phal. Noname, Phal. NoID or simply unkown hybrid.
Enjoy your orchids!
