Dreaming about Brassavola Nodosa Female
Default Dreaming about Brassavola Nodosa

I知 thinking about adding Brassavola nodosa to my collection. Right now I知 in the research phase and I知 not sure what would be the best medium to grow it in. In most pictures I have seen it in a baskets or some type of slab, is this the only way it will grow?

I would want this for my office, which means I would need a plant light, any ideas on how to do this & what type of light would be needed? Also, can anyone recommend a trustworthy vendor? I live in Florida and would like to stay within the state if possible (I知 trying to reduce shipping time).

Thanks

Ingrid, I have mine growing on tree fern. It's about 2" square by about 10" long. The plant did a nice spiral around it, going up at a 45% angle.

Ingrid, They are an easy grower and like alot of light. They also grow best when mounted. If you go to forums in the site menu to the left here, you will see there is a vendor's thread and there are some great vendors in Florida. However I know many Floridians who frequently order from other states and get prompt delivery. Andy's Orchids is in California and they do have the Brassavola nodosa. They ship FedEx and you get it within two days. They are highly recommended here on OB....as well as many others, but not sure who else carries this particular one off the top of my head. with your search!

Mine is growing in a pot and doing fine. You just have to make sure it dries out between waterings. I think most online vendors carry this plant because it's so easy to grow and people love it.
