Quick Den Repotting question...

I am going to be repotting my Den Spectabile today, and wanted to know if a terra cotta pot with aeration slits would be a wise choice. I'm moving it up from a 4" (currently plastic) pot to 6". I'm obviously new to dens, and any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I have two dendrobiums in clay pots. Works out fine. Dendrobiums love to be pot bound, so don't go big and roomy. Some like a winter rest, and that is something you need to check out. I'm not familiar with yours, so I don't know one way or the other. And I know mine love a more gravelly medium over husk. Sorry, that's about all I can think of.

Clay pots work fine or your could do up a plastic pot and seat it in clay. Dendrobiums have lanky canes and tend to get top heavy. I highly recommend a heavy base so they don't get toppled. This is especially true if you're growing them outdoors.
