Is this a new leaf on my phal?
Hi there,
I was watering my phal today and noticed what i think is a new leaf from the middle of the crown, could you confirm this from my attached pic, thank you.
It might be hard to see in the pic from the resize but there is a small point sticking out from the crown.

Hi en3rmax! It does appear to be a new leaf! Most of the time growth in the center of the leaves like that is a leaf.
Sometimes, it can be a spike, but we don't want our phals to spike from the center like that. Those spikes are "Terminal Spikes" and means that your Phal won't grow anymore leaves.
Congratulations on your new leaf!

I find it a bit too difficult to tell but chances are, it is a new leaf. A new leaf will initially appear as a small, slender, flat-looking growth that will eventually keep growing and open up flat like your other phal leaves. When they initially grow they are folded up. Hope this helps... isn't it GREAT to see a new leaf???

Yeah it's great to see a new leaf on my phal as this is the first one for me, it's very small at the moment, i would say it is a new leaf because i have various other plants and you get to know what they look like, it look's like the tip of a knife blade just sticking through.

It's a new leaf. But a word to tack on to what has been said.
They can stop growing for a while and then resume growing. It doesn't always grow at a constant rate consistently. There's nothing wrong if they stop growing, it's probably just resting up a bit.

Yes it is a new leaf. You must be doing something right. The leaf just below looks fairly new also.
