phal crown turn black or disease?
Default phal crown turn black or disease?

it has been hanging fine for 8 mths; with nice leaves. today, as i was cutting away an old leave (for the first time), i found a new leave (no more in picture) is rotting from inside out - and it dropped off.

phal crown (or base) turn black / rotting? or disease?

anything i can do to help? or just watch?

It looks to me like the normal dropping of an old leaf, so nothing to worry about. What you're seeing is dead tissue succumbing to a mold or fungus. It will drop off too.

It is not "crown rot", as the crown is the center of the growth, where new leaves originate.

A general comment: I suspect you are not watering or feeding the plant sufficiently, as I would expect the plant to have more, and fleshier leaves. Maybe it's being kept too bright, too.

hopefully it is just a dead tissue with mold/fungus like you observed. however, a new leave dropped off from the centre too - as it seems to rot at the base of the plant. let's see what happens next.

thanks for the comment - it is mounted and hang under shade, and watered daily. but i have not feed the plant probably its time to feed
