I like Bayer 3 in 1 as a last resort. I use it as a drench every 10 days for three times to get the life cycles of the bugs. It seems to work well.

Rise & Shine is a product I manufacture and sell on my website. You will likely find Orthene (acephate) at big-box or ag-type stores, but I'd bet Enstar II (which is quite expensive, but it goes a long way) will likely only be found online.

Best price I found just now: Enstar

Ray,

I am going to make a new order in the next few days and get some of that rinse and shine. I just found mealybugs on some of my phal flowers. I have it all .

I have got my hands on some bayer 3 in 1 for roses and ornamental flowers. This I think is a systemic pesticide (almost positive) Is it safe to add the correct dosage to my regular watering schedule. As in the next time I mix up some of your MSU fertilizer (125ppm weekly) could I add the dosage to that mix and give it to all my plants then repeat in about 2-3 weeks. or for that week only do the pesticide and then repeat 2-3 weeks later again?

Basically is this stuff safe to add with the fertilizer. I think they recommend a treatment every 7-10 days for 3 weeks. I am water at least every 7 days at the moment.

Thanks
-H

Okay one last thing before I go off and douse my plants in insecticidal soap and bayer 3-in-1.

How do I know when scale is dead. Mealy bug is easy they stop moving when you poke them . Or as they said in the other forums they turn black/brown when you touch them with rubbing alcohol.

Scale on the other hand sets up home and grows a barrier and stay put. getting dead would not change much other than they stop eat.

Repeat the treatments at one-week intervals for 3 times, so that as younger stages mature, they will be killed.

The Bayer stuff contains imidicloprid (Merit), which is a systemic. I have not seen it myself, but some have rep[orted seeing a mite infestation after using it.

Short-term, you cannot tell dead from living scale insects, but they will rub off easily.
