So I just got a new orchid, a BLC. 'Rustic Spots' and wanted to show it off. I've been eyeing this orchid for a while and then I came across this great specimen at a local garden center. Yeah for me!

And then there is this crazyness going on with my Onc. 'Carnival Costume'. It's reblooming on a stalk that only a month ago had it's last blooms fall off, even before the buds on another stalk has bloomed once!

Kind of out of order too.

The Onc. is also throwing up a new pbulb and leaves at the same time. Ain't Summer great!

Lovely!
the BLC reminds me of my 'mystery catt' - which if I could get to bloom again I could better compare lol

I have an Onc Carnival Costume also - no blooms tho how do you grow yours?
good job!

Wow, that BLC. 'Rustic Spots' is wonderful

I can tell why you've been wanting one for a while, it's gone straight on my wish list.

Yup! I'm thinking Nick's has a better selection of orchids than Tagawa's has. They've got some real great plants over there.

Thanks for the nice words all! I really like this new orchid. My first catt. like orchid, so we'll see how it fairs. I think it'll be great though. From what I've seen about this and simular orchids that I have, it should do great in my conditions.

Whiterabbit, I grow my Carnival Costume in my orchid enclosure under some bright lights. The enclosure is also in front of a bright Eastern facing window, so I get a lot of morning light on the plants on the top shelf. The leaves on the Onc. have a nice tinge of redness on the edges. There is also a humidifier in the enclosure to keep things nice and humid. I water it once a week by soaking it in water for about 20 minutes and then it gets suplimental water from a spray bottle mid week. I also mist the leaves at least once a day. Someone here told me they seem to like that. I also spray down the many arial roots in between the leaves. Maybe that's it.

Good luck!
