something eaten my flower stem???

hi my first stan is flowering and i have been waiting now for around a month for the flowers to come out only to look this afternoon to find that something has eaten part way through the stem the flowers are on would anyone know what it could be and how can i find it to get rid of it. this is so upsetting after all this time for some bug to take away all your hard work agh. help me please. i will post pictures of what i am talking about as soon as i can. thanks in advance. in the picture i have removed the cover leaves so you can see how much it has eaten through the stem.

ok now here are some clear pictures of the damage this bug or worm has done it is eating the inside of the stem away. i am not sure what it is my dad had them for years and never had anything like that happen to his. PLEASE HELP!!!

i cut open the buds as i was interested in seeing what stan it is and it is the white one with the small purple coloured spots on it. damn now i am really upset they didnt open properly
