Question NAMED Purple Phalaenopsis

Aren't ya glad I don't have a picture asking to find out what the name is?

Actually, I am LOOKING for a purple phal. . .but I really don't want a NOID if I can help it. Seems the purple Phals have proliferated the market. . .and now their names are simply 'purple phal'.

Does anyone know of a hybrid that is the basic 'true' purple (not dark fuchsia) phal . . .and has it's name attached? And where it might be sold?

I'm not looking for a compact or a mini, I'm wanting a medium to large sized plant.

Thanks!

Phal. Sogo Grape work for you?

A google search turms up a lot of links to potential sources.

Thanks, Ray, I did a google search for attached pics, but none of the really PURPLE phals had names attached. The pic you posted, I've seen, but it has too much pink in it. I want it for a memorial orchid - for J. His favorite color was a true purple. Here's a link of what I have in mind.

The purplest phal I know of is phal Ember. The cultivar 'Carmela' in the US is supposed to be a very nice one, fragrant too! Phalaenopsis Ember
Or there's the Dtps (or phal now) Kenneth Shubert, which is a true light purple. That one is on my wishlist!

I did a quick search to see if I could find one that has more blue in it. It seems that Phal. violacea can have blue/purple flowers. Here is a picture of one available (but expensive) from orchid web.

Here is the link:
Orchid Web: Phal. violacea var. coerulea

Hope this helps!
