Help - where are you located? "America" doesn't narrow it down much.

I'm just north of Philly.
A phal will do well in semi-hydroponics, and bark as well, although you may need to water it more often in the bark.

where can i buy the stuff that goes in the pot for s/h and what brands of bark are good that you can get
umm. its inside, gets filtered sun and gets hot in summer and real cold in winter

No phal is going to do well "real cold".
I am the originator of semi-hydro culture, and there is good info in addition to stuff for sale on my website.
