I have a phal that went through a root rot and have been salvaged. It's recovering well and started to grow a new leaf. I want to try to give it some root hormone to encourage some new growths - right now, it only has 3-4 good ones plus 2 new ones starting to grow. Through reading the posts on this forum, I saw some recommendations for KLN... I know that you can order this online but I was hoping to find something at a local store - like Home Depot or Sheridan Nursery, etc. I am located in Toronto. Can I use any root hormone or do I have to use one that's just for orchids?
I don't know what is available in Toronto, but someone else on OB recently said a liquid one was best and that the powder ones can be too concentrate for Orchids.
KLN is not specifically for orchids, so I don't think you need one that is.
Hopefully someone else who knows what's available near you will be able to chime in.
Hopefully Rosie cause I asked the ppl at Home Depot and they were cluecless... Not that I'm surprised. It's hard find someone with a lot of knowledge/experience at these big department stores...
Hey. I'm in Toronto too. If you can make it down to the distillery district (or close to it), there's a hydroponics/gardening supply store that sells both KLN and Superthrive I think. If you do a Google search on "Bustan Toronto" you can find their website and exact location.
You can also do a search for Plant Hormones Canada. They also sell some neat stuff that might help.
