Definately a branch developing from a node on the flower stem.

If you are going to keep the capsule, you should also evaluate if it is worth it. I am assuming the flower was self-pollinated. If that is the case, is it a good quality flower worthy of developing seed? Poor quality crosses take just as much money to culture and flask as do good quality crosses. They also take just as much time (years to grow to maturity), growing space, potting material, water and care, etc. Why reproduce inferior plants/flowers?

If you keep the capsule just for the experience - that is excellent!.....then the quality of the flowers is secondary. Enjoy it for the experience.

I will give the capsule a go. THe orchid is in my office/lab. So I aught to have enough space and supplies for process. Hopefully I wont get fired so I have the time to devote to it too.
It was self pollinated.

This particular phal. is trying to bloom again. If it were mine, I would cut a half inch above the growth, spray the cut with alcohol, and put sulphur on the cut. In a few weeks, you'll have new flowers. This works for me every time! BettyE.
