So if I understand things correctly, KLN is a rooting stimulator. I was having a dumb moment, and thought it was like Physan 20,or some of the other products available in US that are not readily available here.

Ray,

Do you have any experience with Atami products, B'Cuzz root, or Olivia's root stimulator? I might give these a try since I have them on hand.

It's easy to recommend Paramount as they are so helpful.

Check out the Dyno-Gro website also, they list many BC distributors.

I don't have first-hand experience with the Atami products, but they are a really good company. Just check the labels to make sure you're getting the hormones in whatever the product is.

Sunbird, let's try not to make this a pissing contest about chemistry. I will end my part with a comment and a rhetorical question:

Some materials - I'll use the mythical "A" - when reacted to form a compound with "B", will be readily soluble, while the same "A" will not be readily soluble in a solution of "B". That is particularly true of some organic materials, whose molecular shape "protects" it from hydrolyzing as readily. Once it is compounded, the "B" addition opens up the structure to allow the OH- ions to grab hold. I don't know if that is the case with the hormones, but I have worked with such materials a lot in my career, so that is where I was coming from.

A mineral fertilizer in water is an organic solvent?

I am not sure when this became an attempt at expert bullying in the beginner section, but I won't partake.

I made a suggestion to the OP regarding an alternative to KLN when a product couldn't be found. I stand by my original suggestion.

Oscarman,

Thanks for the link, I can get it from my former business partner's store on London. Never thought to ask him.

Hope everyone has a good weekend, I might go to the Red Bull Air show/races. See how I feel tomorrow, lots of festivals this weekend in town.

I don't see anybody being a bully here. You made a suggestion and Ray offered his knowledge on the subject.

There are many ways to grow orchids so I understand there is no one correct set of directions and that can cause a fuss amongst the growers...but when we're talking about the scientific breakdown of a specific product, I'd listen to what Ray has to say.
