Let it dry out between waterings. Once you water and the dripping stops air gets sucked up into the pot. All my Oncs. are now in LFSM with some perlite mixed in for air flow and drainage. They seem to love it!

Perlite is the white foamy stuff correct?

I have an oncid hybrid, but I grow her in a combination of crumbled packing peanuts, coconut husks, medium grade fir and charcoal. I have had it since I purchased it new in February and I repotted it right after it finished blooming in early March. Since that time two new pseudobulbs are emerging and it is doing rather well.
