Default Where do orchids grow naturally in the US?

I have a friend that lives in Australia and she goes 'orchid hunting' a lot in nature and takes amazing pictures.

I'd love to do that - where do they grow naturally in the US? What states?

Thanks!

I think they are growing in every state. Many are small but they are still neat. I have at least 2 species growing in the woods around my house. Goodyera pubescens and Tipularia discolor. I know that there are many native to Tennessee so get a wildflower field guide for your state and go hunting!

There should be some Cypripediums native to your state I believe...

Orchids grow wild in just about every state, including Alaska. You just need to find out what they are in Tennessee, and where to find them.
