brown listerine

Reading your answers in this forum (and the article of Camille about some home recipes), I've noticed you frequently suggest use brown listerine. In Italy I can't find this particular colour of listerine: do you think I can safely use one of the others? One in particular?

I could never figure out why I always read that only the brown (original) one should be used.

One of our members experimented using the blue one, she (or he) diluted it a little and had no problems. I tried using it too and didn't see anything different, but I only used it a few times. The original stuff is readily available here (sorry )

I find the brown hard to get hold of here as well. In fact until yesterday I thought they did not sell it in this country.

Anyway I've been using a dark green one (not mint which is paler than this one, I'm not sure what 'flavour' it is.)

I've only used it a few times, but have not seen any bad effect.

I didn't start using it until recently. In France it doesn't exist, and I didn't want to use just any mouthwash, for fear that there might be an orchid toxic ingredient in them that listerine doesn't have. But in the Netherlands american Listerine is really easy to find, but a bit more expensive. I find the brown, green and orange ones

In Italy they import only the green, light green, orange and blue ones. I use the blue one as mouthwash , so I've already got it at home. I think I will give it a try next time I need it. I read the ingredients list and I compared it with the brown one: the only difference is flavour....hope it will be ok!

If the only difference is the flavor, I don't think it will hurt to use it on the orchids. But as a general safety precaution you could use it on one you don't care too much about, and see what happens! But I think it should be fine, a little flavor never hurt anyone!

And perhaps I could try it a little diluted...pretty weird: roots mint flavoured!

If you've done the ingredient comparison and they are exactly the same except for the "flavor", I don't see why there would be a problem.

As I've said every time, I have no idea of the reason behind using only the original one. Isn't it wonderful to have a place for bouncing ideas back and forth?

I love this site too. I don't have any friend fond of orchids and I really need to exchange views with others about this topic!

NEVER knew that there were this many different types of Listerine marketed!
This forum is excellent, educationally, for many different purposes I guess.
