Re-potting
Question Re-potting

I am going to re-pot my phals tomorrow when I get home, and was wondering if you wouldn't mind answering one more question for me. They are currently in 6" pots (not 8" as previously posted), but the roots are growing out and over the sides. Should I get bigger pots to put them in, or should I stay with the same ones. If larger ones are needed, what would you recommend? I've read that the roots like to be snug, and that larger pots are not a good idea.

Again, I greatly appreciate your help. I'm so grateful to have found this site!

Once you unpot and clean out the dead mushy roots your plant will probably still fit the 6" pot. If not, just go a bit larger.

It's not the roots growing out and over that matter, since those are just aerial roots, you need to see the roots in the pot. Like Joann says, it also depends on how many bag roots you remove. Basically, if you can get it back in the 6" pot easily, use that. But if you have trouble getting them to all fit in there again, go up a size.

I think that all depend on how are the roots in the pot. If a good percentage of them are rotten, you should repot in a same o even smaller pot. If they are all ok you can try a pot one size bigger.
