Will Physan help to rid of already existing mold?

I'm a little wary of repotting, since I've done so twice in the past six months. My phal is currently growing a few healthy new roots, but some mold is visible. I watered every two weeks and kept the plant a couple feet away from an open window, and despite the breeze I still got mold... again. I think more precautions are needed.

The culprit for mold is usually to moist/high humidity, but if your stating you have good air flow, suggestively I would take a wooden skewer and place into the pot toward the middle and when you feel it's time to water, pull your skewer and see if there is significant signs of water deprivation, if your not sure it will not hurt to wait a day or so.

By the way, the mold is where in the medium????

If the mold hasn't gotten too bad the Physan will help but it is still best to try not to get it in the first place. What kind of pot do you have and what media are you using??

i'm using a clear plastic pot, and my phal is in coconut husk. I water when the medium, and the visible roots below, look dry. I also live in Los Angeles and do not use a humidifyer, so I've ruled out humidity. Mold is visible on some of the husk pieces within the pot, as well as one of the roots skirting the medium on top. That puzzles me, b/c like I said, the plant recieved good air flow from an open window nearby.

i tried to get a picture through the plastic, but it didn't work. either way, that is what's popping up throughout the mix.

I wouldn't use Physan 20 on roots.

I was just told that cinnamon powder is a natural anti-fungal!

Try using cinnamon powder and let me know what happens.

I just sprinkled it all over all my Pleuros. Damn fungus die!

yeah, i know all about cinnamon. but as i mentioned above that mold has also shown up in the mix down below as well. i'm looking to prevent this kind of thing from happening, as it's been a chronic problem despite having decent airflow in it's location.

My only other suggestion would be Phyton 27. Haven't used it before, so i can't tell you about how it'll be for treatment of fungal infections on your orchid's roots.

All I know is that Physan 20 won't solve your problem and it'll probably add to it (there's a high probabiity your orchid's roots may become damaged).

I just ordered Phyton 27 and I'll be using this on my Pleuros. I've read and heard a lot of praise for Phyton 27. In the meantime, it's cinnamon powder.

Here's a link to a pdf file describing Phyton 27 and Physan 20 so you can make a decision on your own.
