Milt. Morris Chestnut - To Cut or Not To Cut

My Milt. Morris Chestnut is done blooming. Should I cut the spikes on it like I do my Phal? It has two spikes out of the bulb looking thing at the bottom (little help to not sound so illiterate), and there is smaller bulb looking thing at the bottom that I would assume is another plant. Nothing spiked out of this one but I think it might someday. I have attached a picture of it.

I just got it a few months ago and don't know exactly how to care for it. Any advice would be nice.

Hi , I would wait till the spike is brown then cut it to about an inch of where it is attached to the pseudobulb kinda like a Phal . Your plant looks good ! Gin

When it is done blooming, just cut off the spikes. It will immediately begin a new growth.

So I cut...too much. I used my super sharp knife and cut the stems but also managed to take out the big leaf coming out of the bulb.

I'm so mad at myself. Should I put something on the poor thing?

Oh, so sorry to see that.

You might want to try dabbing the cut with Cinnomon, that's meant to be good to stop infection getting in.
