Phal Antartica bloom problems
Default Phal Antartica bloom problems

Hi all!

I need some help with my orchid guys! I have recently bought a phal antatica which is HUGE!! big white flowers, the largest i've ever seen! however......i bought it on saturday and it had ben in the car from Saturday through till sunday afternoon! and during this time it was VERY sunny in London! and the flowers where in full sun in the car seat! When i got home they had started to wilt!!! is there any cure? will they revive themselves? should i leave it? should i cut the flower stalk and hope for a new stalk some time?

Any comments would be greatly received.

Regards,

Mayoo

wow-- not sure but usually if any flower-- orchid or otherwise-- gets hit that badly with heat and sun thats it for them. Orchids are tough though so maybe it'll pull through but honestly I'd be concerned for the health of the overall plant at this point. I don't know how hot phals can go but anything in the 100F I imagine would be very very hard on the plant.

oh my! doesnt sound too good for the plant or the flowers....all you can do is give it good care now and hope for it to pull thru....orchids are tough little boogers, but i think your flowers have had it....leaving plants in a car for even an hour on a sunny day is enuf to kill them.

If they have just wilted, then it may recover with some water.

On the other hand if the leaves are burnt, or start turning brown over the next few days then it is probably done for.

Sunday was a very hot day here in the UK and I know the inside of my car got very very hot. I'm afraid it might have been too much for it.
