Neglected orchids - advice and identification needed (tons of linked images)

Hm, ok. I went to the bookstore - they had all of two books on orchids. Sad. May have to go to the big bookstore in town. I noticed that the books go over orchids that are well-kept and doesn't delve into the neglected ones (i.e. they go over mounting of orchids, but not what to do when the mount is decayed).

Will keep y'all posted on the situation though, thanks for the help!

Where in the US are you? You may be able to get some local orchidboard members to help out. I would go ahead & call the closest orchid society & see if they can give you the name of a contact person that may be able to help.

This will be quite an adventure. I'm happy for you.
