Here in Port Elizabeth , which has temperate climate max 35 c in summer min 2 c in winter, I grow my seedlings in a greenhouse for the first two years After that the plants are moved into a shade house and will usually flower in two and a half to three years from flask. Moving cymbidiums into an area of brighter light is always done in the winter so that the plants can acclimatize to the brighter conditions of summer
I'm still trying to decide if I want to place a greenhouse in our backyard. I thought it would be nice to have the Cymbidiums plants organized in one place.
The site I had in mind for the greenhouse would be partially shaded under a Redwood tree.
Our temperature ranges in the winter are mostly 40 to 50
degrees fahrenheit and in summer can be from 75 to 95 degrees.
Any idea what temperature you feel would optimum? The greenhouse I have in mind would be 10x12ft by 10ft tall, contain 4 vents, and my plan was to install a solar powered thermostat exhaust fan (12W x 36-1/2L).
