Hi Tim,
If she was Mine, I'd MOUNT her
As I have about 50-60 phals mounted, and they LOVE IT. All outside too, in my chid hotel
And 80% of them in bloom now too!

Hi Jkelee,

The area where I keep them is suitable for that method. Do you have a way to keep the growing medium around the roots or do you just leave them exposed to the air? Do you spray it with a sprinker every couple of days? I have a little encyclia I am trying something like that, I fastened a twisted root to an old piece of board so it created a pocket for the orchid mix.

Sometimes i find that a bit of epsom salts help to get that red out.

Hi Tim,
I have my chids mounted with Moss only. If it's HOTTER than H, down here, I'll water daily. If not, 2-3 days.

Phals tend to need a nightime drop in temperatures to start a flower spike.

If your plant is growing well and seems othrwise healthy it could mean your daily temperatures are too consistent.
