Help Re planting Cymbidiums

HELP ! I just got 3 pots of Cymbidiums (I think!! I was told that’s what they are.) Their are at least 20 to 25 in each small pot.
I want to re-plant them into bigger pots..
I was told by a guy at Home Depot to use an orchid planting mix with a cactus soil mix, that its a well draining soil. is this right ??
All I’ve read is to use bark.
I do have inside Orchid and use only bark.

Any help will be greatly Appreciated !!!

I've seen Cymbidiums growing in all sorts of soils, but I use fine bark for mine anyway. I add perlite and some charcoal also. Make sure they good a good temperature drop at night.

I use equal parts med and fine fir bark and use a good amount of perlite and/or pumice and have gone with or without some charcoal - I also throw some styro pnuts in

cyms like to be constantly moist but not soggy - so well draining mix is essential

Anything well draining should work for cyms. Someone one the forum who grows lots of cyms told me he uses equal parts of stalite gravel and coconut husk chunks, with a cup of crushed oyster.
When you do repot, make sure to not use pots that are too big. Cyms like to be snug in their pots. Usually pots just a few inches larger than the current ones are sufficient.

I've also read that during the winter they need to be brought inside.

I'm in So California , San Diego inland. So will I be needing to fine a place for them inside.. LOL

Cymbidiums are usually quite cold-tolerant, so unless you expect to see nighttime temperatures near- or below freezing, they can probably stay out in the winter.

I'd be more concerned about summer heat than winter cold in your area, so you might want to keep them lightly shaded.

Sorry ! I didn't take a picture. Should have.

I have them under a BIG ash tree with lots and lots of shade. Will keep a eye on them as the weather warms up.. We do get some 100* temp here.

Do you think the will give me some blooms this summer..

Im hoping so, I would very much like to take one back to my husbands 94 year old grandmother. They are her's, but she is now in Accident living.

I think most bloom in winter. Mine did at least.
