Is there a particular species that you prefer one over another? Or are you just wanting generalized information about the world of orchids overall?

Check out the Book Reviews in the Site Menu on the left side of your screen. Ortho's Complete Guide to Orchids or Cullina's Understanding Orchids are both excellent.

Thank you Bill, I will give a look to both of them and order one. There is something specific about phal and paph?

I love the Orchids for Dummies book. I read it voer and over. It gives lots of good tips and is easy to understand. Betty

I started with Ortho's Complete Guide to Orchids too. It is short and cheap, but touches on many topics.

My first Orchid book was Cullina's book Understanding Orchids. For a long time it was my only resource, and I did great. I'd highly recommend it.

Ditto what she says! I have several orchid books, and this one is my absolute favorite. What I like about it is that it's a book you can always learn from. It covers beginner topics, and topics more for confirmed growers. I also love all the orchids discussed in the second half. And I got it at a pretty good price from Amazon.

I'm going to London for work next week and I will try to find some of this books: they seems to have exactly the things I am looking for, not too complicated but comprehensive. Otherwise, I am sure I can buy them through the web.
Thanx, you are all very resourceful!

I bought "Understanding Orchids" based on the book review in this website. As others have said, it's a great book!

I was at Chapters recently and was skimming through "Moth Orchids: Guide to Phaleanopsis". It seems like a good read and covers species and hybrids (and their backgrounds too), if you're into that. I'd like to buy this one eventually.
