Default first spike on vanilla!

While I was watering plants I noticed something different on my vanilla. It is a spike with little flower buds getting ready to bloom! I know they only bloom in the morning for about an hour, or I am told anyway. I will be getting out early every morning with a camera. I am curious about producing a bean, even though I am told not to try it at home! Dont worry, I wont eat it right away. Just wondering about the process, if its even worth it.

Orchid Seedbank Project website has an article about this. You might want to check it out. The decision is ultimately up to you.

When my vanilla blooms, the flowers last around 10 hours or so

I've tried hand-pollinating a few blooms...without success...but I'll keep trying
