I have just finished repotting the necessary orchids, and watering those that needed it. When watering one of my phals, I noticed some air roots higher up coming from between the leaves. I have enclosed a few pics...could this be something like a basal keiki? There are two spikes from this phal, one from lowers down on the larger, older leaves, and another from higher up near the air roots in question.
Arial roots like this are quite common and normal on Phals. New roots tend to come out higher up the main plant (rather than always at the bottom) and Phals tend to like having arial roots.
One of mine has just started a new flower spike and at the same time it has started a new root coming out just below where the spike has appeared, about half way up the Phal.
