I purchased a small - 2" Lockhartia oerstedii at an auction on March 21/09. It has some new grow but nothing to get excited about. The plant just doesn't seem happy. It is kept in moderate light and temps. Potted in moist spagh moss, misted every other day or so. I am wondering if the potting medium is being kept too wet - I was told to keep it moist at all times. One leaf is yellowing. Advice on how to grow a healthy plant would greatly be appreciated.
I have Lockhartia Gold Speck, which is an offspring of oerstedii. It is in a basket with sphag, there are a bunch of very very fine roots but they're not very long.
I keep it in dappled bright light and it gets heavily misted every day.
Yours might be in it's adjusting period...I'd spray it every day and just wait. When she blooms, you'll be thrilled
Thanks Susanne, MAth. I have moved the little guy so that it is now sitting between the oncidium and brassavola so it's getting more filtered sun. I will try misting every day and hold back in the watering for a bit and the sphag seems quite wet right now. I must remember to have patience
