Lighting

I would like to ask someone's opinion about the kind of lighting I have. I have a sunroom. At the end of the sunroom, it is shaped like a half hexagon. There are three fairly large windows in the hexagon. One faces north, one faces west and one faces south. I have a table in the centre with three Phals. They do well here. What I am wondering? What kind of lighting are they receiving? Bright, mid, low? Why I am wondering is because I have some very young cattelya and oncidiums coming and I was wondering where to put them is relationships to the Phals I know are doing well.

Probably mid-level, but without some sort of meter (stand alone or using your SLR's built-in one), how wil you know for sure?

Chris he's referring to a type of camera-- a selective lens camera-- any digital or film type of camera such as canon or nikon. The light meter can be used to deduce the amount of light available.

Intersesting link Ryan, The one I found talking about using the light meter in the camera was an older source, but it said to set the ASA to 25 and the shutter speed to a 60th of a sec. Then the corrosponding f stop equals the foot candle numbers. The problem with this is that a lot of newer D-SLRs can't be set to ASA 25. 100 is the lowest they go. The fc numbers are the same which ever way you do it, I'd say that it's easier going with ASA 100 as most common, modern cameras have that as their lowest setting.
