What's up with this?
Yesterday went to the local Trader Joe's and purchased a Phal Taisuco Gold x Phal equestris 'Alba' for $8.00. I knew I would lose the opened flower and buds because they had a pinched spot on the stem and were droopy. I wasn't concerned and purchased anyway because I knew it could be rebloomed and was just too good a deal to pass up.
But, and you knew there had to be one, when I got it home I noticed the newest leaf was as thin as tissue paper. The older leaves were fine. I hope you can see from the picture, that the leaf is creased.
My question is should I be worried about this, or just chalk it up to the care it didn't receive while in transit and in the store.
thanks!!

It loks like freeze damage to me, but I could be wrong. Give it a chance and see what happens. Could be it was "starved" for water at store.

The leaf is not shriveled, or floppy soft, it's just EXTREMELY thin.

Maybe it sat a while in a "no light" situation?

Interesting situation. have never heard of or seen it before. Im new at this still. In anycase I tend to go the way of cold damage.

Ross you hit it . I have seen where this has been a problem with phals as well as others. Remembering last year in the garden center, not only the phal but our angel plants (mini indoor basket plants) decided to pull a boner like this when we had a nasty cold front run through and with all the rush to pull all the outside plants into the store, plants were left in there shipped box's where they were kept closed . Your outcome will be no different than as if it never happend.

Thanks! Was hoping it would be a temporary thing.

If it's due to excessive cold, it is not likely temporary, and that leaf will die.
The rest of the plant looks reasonably healthy, so other than a slight setback, it should be fine.

What I meant was that the cultural condition was temporary. It's becoming very obvious that the leaf is dying.

Update
Well, it's not looking good. The top leaf is now gone (expected), but has also lost the bottom two, just fell off. They had a little bronze tone to the leaves.
Of the two remaining leaves, one is a little brown near the crown (but not directly at it). Could it have gotten that cold or is there something else at work here.
Thanks
