Hi Chas--

The background is simply mat board you'd use to frame things. I do loads of photography on the side and as a hobby so I have these things around-- makes for a better presentation and allows me to capture my plants forever

The photo itself is a high dynamic range photo-- a series of shots using different shutter speeds but a common f-stop. This allows you to render a truer color and depth of range.

Here are some more...

This is cool! I have a plant of the same cross. Phal. Rousserole x (Phal. Carmela's Wild Thing x Phal. Adelaide's Delight). Here is my plant which is currently blooming. It's a first-time bloom with three flowers.

Best Regards,
Nik

Wow Nik, yours has loads more white to it. Funny how different the same cross can be from one plant to the next. Where did you get yours? Mine was an ebay score.

Has yours grown its new leaf(ves) yet? Mine has pushed out two-- both have interesting patterns on them-- similar to a species plant--- yet the adult leaves have no markings. I hope the marking don't fade away-- they look great.

Ryan, I like the HDR photos! Nicely done. How many different exposures do you use to make one complete photo?

Sorry, I hadn't seen your response to my question. Thanks for the info. Where do you get that board?

I got mine on eBay as well. The seller is mijo730. I emailed him (Mike) and he says that he has more plants, so I'm in the process of picking up three more from him. They aren't in spike, but that is just a matter of time. There hasn't been any new leaf action as of yet.
