I've watered it once when I got it since most of the roots were silvery white and the growth medium seemed to be quite dry. I haven't watered it since; the roots look green and wet and I'm afraid I'll rot them. I believe it's planted in some sort of moss, not quite sure what kind but it's very white. the roots look mostly healthy, I see a dark spot on one through the pot, but that's all.
I'm afraid I have not been able to take a satisfactory picture of the bud; it just looks like a fuzzy yellow blob in the photos. I have my best shot in the album in my profile titled "Yellow Phalaenopsis" To describe it: it looks like a normal half-opened bud, and then the part of the stem attached to the bud is starting to turn brown and appears to have withered slightly.
