This might sound like a silly question but I cannot seem to find the answer in print anywhere. When I water my vandas (unpotted and hanging in baskets) do I water the leaves and flowers also? If there is fertilizer in the water do I water everything (I know not to water the flowers when there is fertilizer in the mix), roots AND leaves?
You can water the leaves as well, as long as you do it early in the day so the plant has time to dry out before nightfall. But the prob with wetting leaves with fertilized water is that it usually leaves white fertilizer deposits on once the water evaporates. I don't grow vandas but that's part of the reason I avoid wetting leaves of my orchids.
It's also better to avoid wetting the blooms, fertilizer or not, as water can damage them.

Thank you so much for the quick reply. This is such a great forum. People go out of their way to help newbies like me and they have no idea how much it is appreciated. Hopefully some day I will be able to help answer questions on this board but that day is a LONG way off!
