My small haul from the San Antonio show
Greetings fellow orchid enthusiasts!
I drove down to San Antonio today to see the Alamo Orchid Society show and sale....I got a couple of bark mounts, a green and white paph (kicking myself for not noticing it has no label, but oh well) and a Tolumnia Mem. Ralph Yagi 'Solar Baby'. This is my first paph so I am excited, and have done some reading here on the Tolumnia. It is in a little pot with just a bit of charcoal and some roots. I think I know what to do with one of my smaller mesh pots now....put a little charcoal in (as it seems they like that...easy enough) and hang it up near my CFL. It has four "fans" or plantlets all joined together. Not sure if I should at some point divide it. Anyway, here are some pics......

It's beautiful. I'm just starting to get interested in these little guys. They are a lot different than my large vanda plants. Much more easy to find a place to fit into an over crowded shelf.

Hi Dan,
I'm just starting on paphs too and have one Tolumnia as well. Bought it in bloom and now waiting for it to show off for me. My phaps are NOID's also.
As an ex Corpus Christian I wanted to say Hi, have been to Austin several times and San Antonio too.
Would like some of that warmth now!
Good luck with the plants.

Oh, I love the green and white Paphs so make sure you show us pics when it opens. The Tolumnia has some really pretty colours as well.
Great choices

Thanks all for all for the encouragement! I re-potted the tolumnia today in my net pot with just charcoal pieces. I sat on the sofa and picked them out of one of my other orchid mixes heh.

Excellent selections Dan! I especially like the Tolu! What beautiful flowers. I have one that has yet to rebloom for me. Someone told me not to cut the old spikes on Tolus because they can bloom from them again. Of course that was after I had already cut the old spike off!

I can't wait to get to my next local botanical garden show... I want a larger variety of orchids in my collection... My next goal is getting a vanda which I KNOW a local nursery nearby has, but I have no clue what cultivar or the color of its blooms... I'm going to look at them again this weekend!
Glad to see pictures of your latest additions from the SanAn adventure
