Is this a new phal for you? I had the same problem right after I received several new phals into my collection. There is nothing wrong with your plant and unless you're overwatering, you are fine. Rest assured it's okay as long as it is maintaining its open blooms.

What I've learned has and will happen, the blooms cease to bud because you have changed the environment in which the plant was originally budding into bloom. You have to realize that the conditions which your phal is in now are not the same as they were once its original blooms open. After your phal adjusts to its new temperature area, humidity level and source of light, it should rectify its blooming cycle (dependent on how far into the blooming period it was).

However, if you had the phal before it began to bloom, then perhaps you need to reconsider all that was said above and adjust it all accordingly. How about your potting medium? How old is it? Can you see any salt crystallization near the roots of the plant? It could be due to be changed or perhaps you need to increase the fertilizing of your plant. I've read during the blooming cycle of some orchids that it's good to fertilize at half-strength every fourth watering until the bloom cycle has ended. I've also heard mention of a product called SuperThrive and perhaps you could look into obtaining some of this for your plant?

Now this information I am relaying to you is by no means coming from an expert, just from my own personal experiences and questions asked of others. Hopefully someone else will chime in, but if not, I hope this information will benefit you my friend. Best of luck with your 'chid

I've actually repotted other orchids which were in bloom and had good results in doing so, but I suggest you have someone help you do this so as to not break off the blooms. As I mentioned previously about the buds dropping off, my phals (I have four) that dropped their new buds all started pushing out new growths from the main spike to open new buds only two weeks after I acquired them. Rest assured once your new 'chid recovers from the environment adjustment, it will once again go bloom crazy for you

Check out these links here for a little more phal info:

View those links in the order listed and perhaps that will shed a little more light on your plant for you as to what you should do with her! Best of luck!

I agree that your blooms my be dropping because of a change in enviroment when you brought it home. It is quite common for Phals to get 'bud blast' when you first get them home.

It may be a good idea to check the roots, even so. Can you see them through the pot, do they look green (when wet) or silver (when dry). If you can't see them then maybe try gently tapping out some of the bark from the top until you can see the roots. Ones from inside the bark may be pale yellow/white rather than green/silver. Are they firm or are they mushy?

If the roots are green/yellow/white/silver and they are firm then they are good healthy roots and it is likely the bud blast is just due to the change in enviroment.

If you are re-potting be careful not to get too big a pot, they like to be tight in the pot with arial roots also going everywhere, often when you re-pot you just change the medium and stay with the same size pot. Having said that you do need to go to bigger pots sometimes and if you do you probably just want to go up one size.
