My Den. Emma again... damage?
OK so after I got from break, of course I immediately went and checked my 'chids. The Catt looks just like it did before. The Den looks, from afar, lovely and healthy. Closer inspection revealed that some of the exposed roots had green moldy stuff on them. I cut off one that was really fuzzy and squishy but the others looked like maybe this is some algae type stuff that might be done away with if I water more carefully, so I decided less meddling would be best for the moment, and I let them get dry before watering again. They do seem to be improving - I've been watering less at a time also.
So unless anyone thinks I've done something terribly wrong, I think I'm on the right track with that. The one I want to ask about is actually a stalk problem.
The plant has about five stalks, one of which has almost all of the leaves (except 1) and the flowers. One on the opposite side of the plant got damaged/broken at some point (The flower stalk makes keeping this plant upright a total balancing act, and I'm not sure what to do about that...), and the base of the stalk had basically rotted through. I decided to remove this stalk, thinking that this cannot possibly be healthy to leave rotting there next to the healthy stalks, but when I cut it away from the next stalk over, I accidentally cut into the healthy stalk! Do I need to do anything to keep this stalk healthy? It's not broken like the other one, so nutrients are still flowing.
