I would like to send blooming orchids as gifts. Has anyone got an opinion on using Orchids.com (Normans).
I mean have you ordered from them and if so how would you rate them? Quality of plant, shipping times ect.
Thanks in advance- for any feedback.

Hello and welcome to OrchidBoard! I'm hoping someone else that has experience with orchids.com will chime in as I have never ordered from them. I have heard some negative reviews from people on this board. I'm not really sure if I would order from them after hearing some bad stories though. A few vendors I have dealt with and liked are the following:

Welcome to Orchids By Hausermann On-Line Orchid catalog.
Home Page
Oak Hill Gardens

I've had pretty positive experiences with them and their shipping times are fast. Usually they ship on the Monday following placement of your order. Hope that helps you out!

It can be hit-or-miss with Norman's...sometimes their plants are okay and then at other times, not so much

Sarah gave you a few good choices...

Hausermann's has nice stuff although I would repot right away because on occasion the media has not been in the best shape upon arrival.

The plants from Parkside are always wonderful! The problem with that site is the very high shipping/handling charges...if you're not expecting it, they can be a shocker!

You can't go wrong with Oak Hill and there are also other vendors who can help you.

I have ordered three plants from them and have been extremely happy every time.
I ordered a den/phal hybrid that turned out to be 2 plants in one pot! Still very happy till today.
I also ordered a den nobile that came flowering, then gave me several growths, and just finished flowering something crazy like 50+ blooms... Ay Caramba! It was gorgeous.
Then this past winter I ordered a phal violacea. It was very healthy and bloomed for about 2 months or so.
No diseases, pests, broken stems... etc.
My phal/den hybrid did have 2 blooms fall off in shipping, but it was nothing they did because it was packed very well. But I called them and they gave me some of my money back.
I say they are great, so go for it.

Another vendor you might enjoy ordering from is Peach State Orchids near Atlanta... I have had excellent customer service from these guys and they've been in the business since the early 90's...
