Default watering

Hi,
I've started watering with distilled water, 1-2 drops of KLN per gal. and MSU liquid fertilizer for pure water. The fert. label says that the recommended rate is 3-4 tsp/gal. I apparently do not know how to read it, because I'm not understanding how much fert. per gal I'm supposed to combine for weakly weekly? Would someone please advise me?
Thanks in advance,
Vicki

Hmmmm...... I'm kinda thinking that may be a misprint? I just looked at mine from First Rays and it says 3/4 tsp per gallon is the recommended rate. That is exactly the dosage I use everytime I water. I use distilled water too and use KLN.

Oh, I just noticed that you may have the liquid? I have the powder so the dosage is probably different. I would just use the recommended rate but I hope others that use the liquid will chime in too.

Are you fertilizing with every watering or are you doing it every few watering? For plants like my vandas I give them some fertilizer with every watering and I have been useing 2 tsp./gal. but some of my other plants get just water most of the time then a shot of fertilizer at 3 or 4 tsp./gal.

Hi Sarah,
Thanks for replying.

I know I can be pretty dense sometimes, so I'm hoping that someone will shake me and jog my mind-cogs to turning.

Vicki, that mixture will result in something around 100-125 ppm N, so is fine for use at every watering. Doing so less frequently is no problem. I subscribe to the "weakly, always" mode of feeding, so made the concentration recommendation on the label accordingly.

Now let me ask you something: as you got that from me, why didn't you just email me with your question?

(Sarah - Vicki has the liquid version. It is made by dissolving powder in hot water, so has been diluted from the original label strength.)

Hi Ray,
As always, thank you for your help! I understand now.

As to why I didn't e-mail you directly with my question: Maybe I wanted to plug First Rays by posting my question to all OB members?!? OR maybe I have no earthly idea why I didn't e-mail my concern to you directly (my mind often functions supersonically and irradically without thoroughly thinking my thoughts through, which is not good....I should work on correcting this). OR maybe my answer to your question is....."both of the above". Seriously, I felt sure you would answer my question via OB....but I didn't know how often you checked your business mail. I did ask my question on a weekend day, you know?!?
Again, thanks very much for your help!
Vicki
