Default phal wants to be a paph

Just thought this was cute. I am guessing it is as the flower is ending its life but I saw it this morning and thought awe it wants to be a paph it looks better where I am sat as i am slightly above the flower so more detail. It is cut spikes off my sick phal which I am doubting is going to make it.

What do you mean the plant isn't going to make it? Is it suffering from root rot?
I've had a number of my phals drop off all the leaves and a new basal growth will start. So, theres always hope

Whats going on with you're phal, Carrie?

yeah I overwatered it and rotted the roots I chopped them off leaving one under medium root and two aerial roots i gently teased the aerial roots down to get them into the medium and one of them looks to have rot set in so I dont know what to do the leaves are still lovely and green but ever so floppy I cut the spikes off also just cant see it surviving wwith only one viable root.
