Default what potting medium for Coelogyne massangeana and Dendrobium loddegisii

I have bought these two plants off Ebay and they are being shipped from Portugal bare root wrapped in sphagnum and was wondering what I should pot them in I have a bag of medium bark, potting compost and perlite in the house but other mediums can be bought. After some searching I have found that the Dendrobium loddegisii tends to prefer being mounted but I do not feel this is an option as I really have no clue how to mount, where to buy a mount from and nowhere to hang it It did say it will do ok in a pot or I would not have bought it. All help much appreciated and thank you in advance

Hi Carrie, I'm afraid I don't know about these plants.

I think most Dendrobium can go in bark but I may be wrong there. I grow mine in bark but there are so many different types of Den that maybe yours is different.

Anyway, thought I would bump up this thread in the hope someone else will chime in soon.

Thank you it does say bark on the listing for the Den. I am just concerned about adequate air flow if it likes to be on a mount ( I tend to over water, so far) I have some bark soaked in case it arrives in the morning but really want some advice on the best condition. The Den is a miniature I think that likes to ramble so I can see why mounting would be better but I only found this out after I bid The other one, I am concerned about as I dont even know how to make a mix up, if it really does like peat in the mix I might go get some orchid compost from the garden centre but generally I thought it was not a good idea for them. thank you for the bump hopefully someone will be able to help me
